Sailing Venue Is Ready to Welcome Asian Games 2018

Indonesian Sailing Federation Is Ready to Succeed the Biggest Sport Competition Once in 4 Year in Asia.

It is an honor for Indonesia that had become the host of the 4th ASIAN GAMES in 1962, 56 years ago. In 18th Asian Games 2018 this year, Indonesia is trusted to organize this 2nd biggest event in the world again. One of the sports is Sailing, which is not familiar in Indonesia. In fact, this sport had already been known since World War II. But, at that time it was still dominated by Dutch who introduced and build Sailing Federation in some big cities in Indonesia. The establishment of INASAF (Indonesian Sailing Federation) in 1977 brought good news for Sailing Athletes of Indonesia to expand their self to compete in international championship. As time goes by, INASAF Committee has cooperated with international organization, they are World Sailing, Asian Sailing Federation (ASF) and Class Association.

This event will be held at Indonesia National Sailing Centre (INSC), Jl. Taman Marina, Ancol Barat, Jakarta Utara and will start from 24-31 August 2018 at 08.00-18.00 WIB. The chairman of INASAF Committee, Rear Admiral of Indonesian Army, Darwanto, S.H., M.A.P asks all of Indonesia people to support Asian Games 2018 especially for Sailing. In this opportunity, he will become the advisor of Sailing also Iwan T Ngantung as the Competition Manager and Johnny E. Awuy as the Venue Manager. There will be 10 races of Sailing, they are Laser Radial Women Class, Laser Standard Man Class, 4,7 Women Class, 4,7 Men Class, 470 Women Class, 470 Man Class, 49er Man Class, 49er FX Woman Class, RSX Class, and RS one Class. It will have 2 races which will be held everyday starting from 12.00 WIB with 2 reserve days. There are 20 NOC (National Olympic Committee) with more than 110 athletes who will compete in those races. All of athletes will play to win the game for their country sportively.

INASAF has been prepared to support Asian Games 2018 since years ago. They also held test event in 17th Asian Sailing Championship at 18-25 June 2018 which joined by 16 Asian countries with more than 224 participants, with 170 boats, also 12 class. In a day, it held 4 races for five days from 20-25 June 2018.

About INASAF (Indonesian Sailing Federation)

In 1977 by PEROPI II Congress with SKEP No. SK/05/VIII/1977 legalized the establishment of INASAF (Indonesian Sailing Federation). And from plenary of 9th KONI Centre by reference No.1, year 1980 date 29 January 1980 and reference KONI Centre No.029, year 1980 date 15 April 1980 confirmed PB INASAF as the member of KONI Centre. To expand the career of INASAF in International Championship, INASAF have cooperated with International Organization, they are International Sailing Federation (ISAF), Asian Sailing Federation (ASF) and Class Association. Until now, INASAF have managed 20 regional administrators, they are: Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, Kepulauan Riau, Riau, Sumatera Utara, Sumatera Barat, Sumatera Selatan, Lampung, Banten, DKI Jakarta, Jawa Barat, Jawa Tengah, Jawa Timur, Bali, Kalimantan Timur, Kalimantan Utara, Sulawesi Selatan, Sulawesi Utara, Sulawesi Barat, Maluku and Papua. Which managed branch manager and clubs. Club activity is a spearhead to gain interest and build sailing lover to be active in every INASAF events and until it has 350 sailors recorded as the member of INASAF.
